A quick question

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Hi-

Just a quick email to let you know that I’ve signed up for the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. I know you’re busy so I’ll keep it quick.

Please sign up to walk with me!

(Just choose from one of the links below)

OK, that really was the quick (and honest) version, but if you have another minute, I’ll tell you a little more. There are 2.5 million breast cancer survivors who celebrated another birthday last year because people like you signed up to walk with people like me. There are a lot of breast cancer events out there, but I’m walking with the American Cancer Society because I like that the money and awareness we raise help people stay well and get well from breast cancer. It also helps find cures and empowers people to fight back. Last year Making Strides brought together 700,000 people who raised $60 million.

And because those funds were available, more people in our community will ...

·         Have the information and tools they need to stay well from breast cancer or find the disease early when it’s easiest to treat

·         Have a place to turn for help 24/7 if they are faced with breast cancer

·         Benefit from the progress being made toward finding breast cancer’s causes and cures.

·         Get access to lifesaving mammograms and treatment

That $60 million literally came in one walker and one donation at a time, so please click one of the links at the bottom of this email to join me!

Thanks so much,

xoxoxoxo Marion

PS- I am sorry if you got two of these, I had a problem with my contact list :(

Lot's of Info :)

Good morning everyone!
I hope you have been able to get all of your summer fun in cause it is winding down baby! :(:::::.......  But what can we do????  MOVE TO SOUTH AMERICA!  tee heee hee!
I have got a TON for you today... so here goes...
#1 The meeting this week...Just say "No" to saying "No".  We know that Weight Watchers is not so much a diet as a healthy lifestyle.  However, many of us still associate weight loss with deprivation.  The meeting this week will help give us ideas on how we can avoid feelings of deprivation. Make the commitment to take care of you and attend a meeting this week.
#2   We are excited to be participating in LOSE FOR GOOD again this year. The Lose For Good campaign will start on Sunday, September 5th.  It's our third year and it keeps getting better and better!  This year if a you bring a friend during the campaign and that friend joins, you both get a free subscription to Weight Watchers magazine! The need for our food banks is GREAT! There are more and more individuals who need to rely on food banks to make ends meet.  WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.  Stay tuned, and don't forget, for each pound lost by all of us, Weight Watchers will match it in the number of pounds of food donated to hunger organization.  And, if it fits into your budget, we'd also love to have you bring in canned goods to match the amount of weight lost.  That has been such a GREAT visual for you and us all to see the tremendous progress you are making!
#3 The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk with the American Cancer Society will be on Saturday, October 9th.  Go online now and join my team, "Marion's Mammies" ;).  Click on the link and get started.  Shirts for our team are only $6!  Add family and friends, just plan to participate. All T-shirt orders for Making Strides are due by Wednesday September 8th so you will need to hurry to get those in.  I'll have sign up sheets starting this week for the t-shirts.
I can't wait to see y'all in the meetings.
You never touch people so lightly that you don't leave a trace.—Unknown

Hi Y'all!
Man is it HOT today! :)  ...Are any of you feeling as sad as I am about the end of summer just being right around the corner?  Sheesh!  I could just be extra sensitive as my oldest is headed off to college this week :(  It is a WONDERFUL lousy thing all at the same time!  Enough lamenting!  On to the meeting this week :)
You've heard me say it once, you'll hear it a few more thousand times, but NOT ALL FOODS ARE CREATED EQUALLY!!!  Yep, you guessed it, this week in the meetings we will be delving into the Filling Foods and how they can make all the difference in the world for you!   DON'T MISS YOUR MEETING THIS WEEK!!!
Have a wonderful day and enjoy the quotes and recipes below!

Grilled Cinnamon Peaches

4 large peaches, peeled, halved and pitted

3 servings butter-flavored cooking spray

½ tsp. cinnamon

Off heat, lightly coat grill grate with cooking spray, preheat grill to medium-high heat.  Sprinkle cinnamon evenly over cut sides of peaches, lightly coat with cooking spray, place peaches on grill, cut side down, grill until browned and slightly softened, about 5 minutes, for best results do not move the peaches during grilling, this will ensure the attractive grill marks and keep the peaches from sticking to the grill.  Turn the peaches over and grill on the other side for about 3 minutes more, serve warm, 2 peach halves per serving , serves 4, 1 point per serving.

Creamy Potato Salad  - Serves 6 (1 cup serving), 2 Points per serving

1. Combine 1 1/2 lbs cubed red potatoes and 1/4 cup water in large microwavable bowl.  Cover with wax paper  and microwave on high until fork tender (aprox 7-8 minutes stirring every 2 minutes.) Drain and let cool.

2. Meanwhile, make dressing: Mix 1/2 cup plain fat-free yogurt (I use Yoplait Vanilla for a richer flavor), 1/4 cup reduced-fat mayonnaise, 2 large chopped hard boiled eggs, 1/3 cup diced red onion, 1/4 cup chopped parsley, 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/8 tsp pepper (can use cayenne).

3.  Stir potatoes into dressing.

4.  Sprinkled 3 strips crumbled crisp-cooked turkey bacon on top (I just mix it in to the dressing).

WW Carrot Cake!

Sweet Sue sent me this goodie that she had for her birthday :)  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!  She used fresh apricots in stead of the dried and apple sauce instead of the apple butter.  She said that it was the BOMB!!!

Carrot Cake

POINTS® Value:  4
Servings:  24
Preparation Time:  35 min
Cooking Time:  30 min

Ingredients

2 cup(s) all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cup(s) sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp table salt
1/2 cup(s) dried apricot halves
3 Tbsp hot water
2 large egg(s)
2 item(s) egg white(s)
4 large carrot(s), shredded (2 1/2 cups)
1/2 cup(s) apple butter
1/3 cup(s) canola oil
12 oz light cream cheese, Neufchâtel
7 1/2 oz store-bought marshmallow creme
1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Spray 2 (9-inch) round cake pans with non-stick spray, line the bottoms with parchment or wax paper, and spray the paper with nonstick spray.
  • Combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  • Put the apricots and hot water in a food processor and process until the apricots are finely chopped.
  • Put the eggs and egg whites in a large bowl; beat with a whisk to combine. Add the carrots, apple butter, oil, and apricots, stirring until blended. Add the flour mixture to the carrot mixture, stirring with a rubber spatula just until blended. Spread the batter evenly n the pans. Bake until the cakes are nicely browned and the center of each one bounces back when lightly pressed with a fingertip, 30-32 minutes. Let cool in the pans on racks, 15 minutes. Remove the cakes from the pans, peel off the paper, and cool completely on the racks.
  • To make the frosting, with an electric mixer on medium-high speed, beat the remaining ingredients until smooth.
  • To frost the cake, place 3 strips of wax paper on plate; don't cover center of plate. Place 1 cake layer on top. Spread ½ cup frosting on center; spread out to edges. Top with remaining cake layer. Spread extra frosting on sides, then on top. Pull out wax paper.

Let's Get It GOING!!!

Hello Everyone!
Just plain and simple, I CANT wait to see you in the meeting this week.  Last week we talked about weightloss and those DARN plateaus!  This week?  We'll watch our ACTIONS because they become our habits!  In this second part of examining the wretched P word (a.k.a. Plateau) we are reminded that 90% of plateaus are attributed to the LOOSENING UP OF OUR EFFORTS or as I like to cal it, RAP, Relaxed Adhearence to Program!!  I am still amazed how many things we start "tossing in the mix" when we are so frustrated about this up, down, up, down little game at the scale.  We just assume our body is stuck and that we have no power.  RUBBISH!  We have all the power!  Read up on your Push Past Plateaus book and get into a meeting.  A dose of reality, of following program- REALLY following program may be the thing that many of us need to get BACK ON TRACK!!  Get into a meeting!  Make it happen!
I can't wait to see you!!!

Alright....here's the scoop!

So, here it is...My sweet hubby is getting better every day :)  YIPEE!!!  The progress is slow, but moving along as expected :)  He has even been able to return to work this week with the aide of a wheel chair and crutches :)   So this is all good, right?  Things are starting to settle down, right?  Life is feeling doable, normalizing, right?  Well, last week we get a call to meet with our Stake President.  For those of you who don't belong to my church, this is usually is kinda a big, stressful deal.  Well he's got a new job for me, a new responsibility, sorta huge...I'm the new Stake Relief Society President.  Can you say OVERWHELMED???  How about feeling a bit less settled down, doable or normal?  So, I am back to feeling just shy of on top of my life.  My plan is to track tomorrow.  I'm gonna do it tonight and just try to stick to the plan tomorrow...hopefully  ;)
Here's hoping that we can have a bit of a calm for a little while, so I can get my world in order.  I am not sure that I will be posting my trackers for a while.  I really have to scale back where ever I can to make sure I can do everything I need to be doing.

Pushing Past Plateaus!

Happy Scottish Festival Weekend!
I am sure that many of you do not know that this weekend is the Scottish Festival down here in Payson, but it is :)  I sure LOVE the bagpipes!  YIPEE :)  I hope that some of you made it.  What a GREAT culture.  I am SO proud to be Scottish!
Well, this weeks meeting is a CANNOT miss!  We are talking about pushing through plateaus.  Let's face it, we are going to hit a few a plateau or two on our journey to a healthier life.  The trick is understanding what they are and why they happen.  This week we are going to tackle the myths about plateaus!
Be sure to get in and see me :)
